Talespinner Children’s Theatre Offers At-Home Puppet & Mask Making Camps

Since its founding Cleveland’s Talespinner Children’s Theatre has been known for its creative use of visuals in its productions, including masks, costumes and puppets. It’s also known for its interactivity, engaging kids hands-on in its productions and its many education classes.

Of course, the education program is mostly on hold for now, but instead, they’ll be bringing two camps to your house: one focused on creating marionettes, the other on making papier mache masks.

Each weeklong camp free includes a kit with all the materials the camper will need to complete their project. The sessions include both printed and video instructional materials, which each camper receives on Monday. Each also features two live, interactive classes during the week, and a “Zoom and Tell” session on Friday to show off the completed projects.

Both classes are recommended for ages 6-13. Puppet camp runs from June 22-26; mask camp from July 20-24. Cost is $75 for the first kit, $50 for each additional kit per household; scholarships are available. For more details about each session, email Katelyn Merold at kc.tctorg@gmail.com
