Prosperity Social Club Launches Streaming Music Series

Thu 5/25 & Thu 7/9 @ 7PM

Tue 7/7 @ 8PM

Tremont’s Prosperity Social Club isn’t quite ready to open yet. Owner Bonnie Flinner is projecting a July 31 re-opening with a lot of changes to everything from seating to hours to the menu.

But in the meantime, she’s been looking for ways to stay connected with customers and realized that the music they loved would best shared online in the future, given the size of the performance area (small!)

Luckily, Flinner’s husband Clint Holley is a musician who owns audio mastering company Well-Made Music and direct-to-lacquer recording studio The Earnest Tube and knows his way around the sonic transmission of music. Holley and his partner Dave Polster developed a high-quality multi-camera livestream delivery.

“Even as things open up here in Ohio, venues are limited and some immune-compromised musicians aren’t ready to take the stage in the traditional sense,” says Holley. “Anyone can turn on a smartphone and broadcast these days, but the quality and reach can be limited for independent artists without partners to help produce, promote and share the show.”

Prosperity will launch its livestreamed music with singer-songwriter duo Sands & Hearn performing on Thursday June 25 and Thursday July 9. On Tuesday July 7 @ 8pm Akron honky-tonky style country band Cory Grinder and the Playboy Scouts will perform. You can access the performances for free on Prosperity’s Facebook page, although they hope you’ll tip the musicians.

If the performances are popular, Flinner says she’ll make them an ongoing feature.

“We thought of this as a way to begin welcoming back our customers even before they’re able to sit on the patio with a sangria or belly up to the bar for a microbrew and a fish fry, but we’re excited by the ability to support local music again to be able connect with our friends wherever in the world they might be,” she says.
