No, bats are not evil and scary despite their reputation and use as Halloween spooky props: they provide lots of benefits to our ecosystem. If you’re curious about the REAL story behind bats — how they live and what their role is in nature, come down to Cleveland Metroparks’ Rocky River Nature Center, and take a comfortably paced walk with a naturalist at dusk, when bats are most active. On that stroll, the naturalist will share the reasons why you should be glad to see bats and not fear them. The hike is just a mile on mostly flat terrain so it’s appropriate for all ages. It’s free and open to all.
