New York City jazz organist Brian Charette is no stranger to northeast Oho audiences. The Hammond-endorsed musician, who won the Downbeat magazine Critics Poll Rising Star: Organ award in 2014 and has played with artists such as Joni Mitchell, Paul Simon and Cyndi Lauper, has made numerous stops at venues such as the BOP STOP where he returns this week.
In 2017, he released a trio recording called Kürrent, which featured layers of electronics on top of his organ. That trio is now a duo, which also features drummer Jordan Young. At the BOP STOP, they’ll perform a set, and then immediately after that Charette will lead a jam session. It’s free, but there’s a suggested $15 donation.
