Folknet Presents Pittsburgh Folk Duo The Early Mays in Lyndhurst

Sat 10/12 @ 7PM

The Early Mays out of Pittsburgh have been winning fans with their vintage American folk sounds for years. Originally solo artists, Emily Pinkerton on vocals, guitar, fiddle and banjo, and Ellen Gozion on vocals, banjo, harmonium make music that explores blues, old-time Appalachian music, bluegrass and other traditional American folk music, performing both standards of the genres and original tunes. The two women have backgrounds in classical, world and folk music, old-time ballad singing and even visual arts, all of which they find a place for in their music.

They released their self-titled debut album in 2014 when they were still a trio and performed on NPR’s Mountain Stage in 2017, shortly after they released their latest album Chase the Sun. And they frequently collaborate with other artists to expand the range of what they can do.

The Early Mays will perform at Lyndhurst’s Church of the Good Shepherd as part of Folknet’s fall concert series. Tickets are $15; $12 for Folknet members — and you can join at the door.
