Fall is the perfect time to be outdoors, and the perfect time for a campfire when the warmth is just the thing to ward off that slight evening chill in the air.
The Nature Center at Shaker Lakes’ Family Campfire Night offers a campfire — and more. Go for a short hike along its picturesque trails looking for nocturnal animals just starting to emerge, then come back and do some crafts, make some smores and hear some stories (not scary ones — this is a family-friendly event!). Bring marshmallow sticks and portable chairs; they’ll provide the rest of the ingredients.
