Transformer Station Show Explores the Human Body’s Diversity

Fri 7/5-Sun 9/29

I Sing the Body, which opens at the Transformer Station this week, showcases the many ways that photographers have looked at the human body. The group show features works from the collection of Fred and Laura Ruth Bidwell, the Transformer Station’s founders, as well as loans from museums, galleries and the artists themselves.

Artists included range from British artist and museum director (including a short stint at the Akron Art Museum in the late 70s) John Coplans (1920-2003) who was known for his detailed studies of his own aging bodies, to local photographers such as rising star Amber N. Ford, a 2016 graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Art, who focuses on exploring the diverse individuals that make up our community.

The exhibit goes on view Fri 7/5; the opening reception will be held Fri 7/12 @ 7-9pm.
