Learn About the History of Gospel at a “Master Class” at Nighttown

Mon 6/18 @ 7PM

Gospel music may be associated with Sunday but to some people it’s an every-day thing, and Monday’s as good a day as any for a multimedia “master class” on the history of gospel.

Dr. David Thomas, who has a doctorate in music from Kent State University and has served on the music staff of many area churches, will present a program with video, sound clips and a live gospel choir at Nighttown. He’ll take the audience back to the roots of gospel in the 19th century and look at how the elements of the gospel choir came together, as well as how other genres such as blues, soul and jazz became part of gospel in the mid 20th century.

Tickets are $15.
