Praxis Fiber Workshop in the Waterloo Arts District has broken new ground — literally. Recently, this small arts organization, devoted to teaching and providing a space for “the creation of fabric from soil to skin,” planted a natural dye garden in a vacant lot just up the street from its gallery/workshop space. The space features plants such as indigo, madder, marigold and St. John’s Wort, which were grown to for centuries to make colorful dyes.
Today it will hold a “grand opening” party there where people can enjoy some food and mingle with neighbors and creative types and learn more about what Praxis offers. It’s free, open to all and family-friendly.
