Let’s Get Growing Workshop/Expo in Akron Gives Community Gardeners a Start on the Season

Sat 2/3 @ 9AM-1PM

While planting and growing season is a ways off yet, it’s time to start thinking and planning and even ordering those seeds.

So it’s prime time for events such as the 4th annual Let’s Get Growing Community Garden Workshop & Expo at First Congregational Church in downtown Akron. Hosted by the Ohio State University Extension, Summit County Master Gardeners’ Community Garden Committee and Let’s Grow Akron with support from the Summit Food Coalition, the event will offer both experienced and novice growers a wealth of useful information.

There will be a presentation by OSU Extenstion’s Jacqueline Kowalski on soil health, as well as workshops on seed starting, composting, planning a garden and creative gardening. The expo will provide resources and information on permaculture, pest management, starting a community garden, beekeeping and more. Free seeds will be available.

The event is free but space is limited. Register online at bit.ly/LGG2018. or call 330-745-9700.
