Dr. Mary Weems is an accomplished creative writer and winner of the 2015 Cleveland Arts Prize for Emerging Artist in Literature. She’s served as poet laureate of Cleveland Heights, written books and essays dealing with the condition of Black people in America, and her plays have been staged by the Ensemble, Karamu and Dobama theaters.
You can catch her latest work-in-progress when Hey, Siri gets a staged reading at the Stephanie Tubbs Jones Center in Shaker Heights, directed by fellow Cleveland-based playwright Michael Oatman. The only hint we’re given is this description: “A military veteran & an I-phone. Their connection?”
