Film Noir-Inspired Play ‘City of Angels’ Goes Onstage at the Beck Center

Fri 7/7-Sun 8/13

The 1989 musical City of Angels with book by Larry Gelbart, music by Cy Coleman and lyrics by David Zippel, attempted to capture the spirit of 1940s film noir, mixing a “real” world and a “reel” world of fantasy. In the process it ran for more than two years on Broadway and won six tony Awards, including Best Musical.

An all-star local team of director Scott Spence, musical director Larry Goodpaster and choreographer Martín Céspedes is mounting the work at the Beck Center in Lakewood. It runs Fridays & Saturdays @ 8pm and Sundays @ 3pm through Sun 8/13. Tickets are $12-$31. Reserve them here.
