Suddenly it seems like there’s an artisan coffee roaster every few blocks that ISN’T Starbucks, but rather a locally owned business. And more and more Clevelanders are becoming coffee connoisseurs and experts as a result — now, being a barista is nothing to scoff at.
And you certainly should not be scoffing at the ones who will be competing in the Full Moon Latte Throwdown, taking place at Passengers Café in Ohio City’s Cleveland Hostel. In this sudden-death tournament, two baristas will go head-to-head in a display of latte art, with three judges deciding who goes on to the next round.
The event is free and open to anyone who wants to mingle with fellow coffee-lovers and chat up their favorite cuppa. Sign up ay 6:30 if you want throw down; competition takes place from 7-8pm. There’ll even be “fight music” by Furface to get the adrenalin pumping.
