What’s killing songbirds? You hear climate deniers insist it’s wind turbines, and cat haters claim that felines are offing them by the millions. What’s the truth?

The new documentary film, The Messenger, by filmmaker Su Rynard, looks at the full picture and finds that the truth is more complicated but it boils down to collective human action more than Fluffy on the prowl. She talks to scientists who believe that ecosystems poisoned with pesticides, habitat loss due to climate change and development and collision with windows — which kills many times more birds than wind turbines or cats — are behind the mass depletion of songbirds.

The Cleveland Museum of Natural history is screening the film at 7pm, preceded by an environmental festival with local environmental organizations offering information on their work. The film is included with admission which is $8 after 5pm on Wednesdays.
