Cleveland Singer-Songwriter Demos Papadimas Celebrates Record Release at the Beachland

Although northeast Ohio is overflowing with truly gifted singer/songwriters, Demos Papadimas, a relative newcomer to the scene, has managed to break through and create a buzz. He’s been performing in the region with his band only in the past four or five  years, but he’s attracted attention for the way he infuses the familiar Americana-type music with Mediterranean influences, especially influences from Greek music — he plays bouzouki in addition to guitar, and you won’t find many other singer/songwriters who cite Bob Dylan among their influences who do that.

But the core of his sound will be familiar to anyone who loves contemporary (or classic) singer/songwriter folk. His bio describes his music as “meditative travelogues that are often Guthri-esque ramblings translated from the Dust Bowl to the Euro-Zone, from freight trains to bullet trains, and are perceptive companions to his roots musical approach.”

Papadimas recently released his latest album, Waiting. He’ll celebrate with a show at the Beachland Tavern with his band which includes violinist Sandi Quotson, double bassist Nils Johnson, drummer Ralph Rich and pedal steel player Al Moss. The Nate Jones Band and Radio Lark open. Tickets are $7 in advance, $10 at the door.
