Sat 3/5 @ 11am-1pm
There’s always something cooking at the Coit Road Farmers Market, which takes place year round every Saturday morning from 8am-1pm. One good reason to go — in addition to picking up locally grown greens and other veggies and yummy baked goods by local producers — is to hang out, watch and participate in the biweekly cooking demonstrations. This week the demo will revolve around use of the pressure cookers.
“While most have embraced the crockpot, the stories of exploding pressure cookers have slowed its reintroduction into the busy modern kitchen,” says market manager Kevin Scheuring, who leads the demonstrations. “Things like stews, braises, and dried beans that people think of as all day projects can be accomplished in about an hour of mostly hands-off cooking time. PRESSURE COOKING IS SAFE! Let’s get pressure cooking back as part of our cooking repertoire.”
The demos are free, and visitors are invited to taste whatever’s cooking.
