Loud anti-abortion voices would have you believe that the pro-choice movement is about “murdering babies.” Nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, those who advocate for a woman’s right to choose abortion if that is what’s right for her are about helping women to have healthy, well-cared-for babies — when they want to have a baby and feel prepared to do so.
That’s why Preterm, the Cleveland-based abortion provider, is hosting an information session with a panel of local doulas. What is a doula? It’s a trained and experienced woman who helps guide and support a woman before and after giving birth, offering non-medical emotional and practical support.
The doulas on the panel at Pretern will include those with specialties such as prenatal yoga, birth support, lactation support and abortion support. Doulas do not impose their opinions of these issues on a woman, only support and enable her own choices. The doulas will be available after the program to answer one-on-one questions.
The program is part of preterm’s new Monthly Community Engagment Series that aims to inform the community about the reality of women’s reproductive health issues. There is parking in the Preterm parking lot. It’s free and open at all. RSVP here.
