Cleveland rock fans have enjoyed Morgan Mecaskey’s rich, grounded alto vocals in many contexts, including her former indie rock band Tinamou, her acoustic solo performances and her aggressive shows with a full band. Augmenting her singing with her guitar and keyboard playing, she gives her smart, passionate songs — showcased most recently on her album Love Less Wild released a little more than a year ago — a real kick in the butt when she’s onstage.

She’ll be making her debut at a new venue — Nighttown in Cleveland Heights, more known for presenting jazz than indie rockers. She’ll be accompanied by bassist Matt DeRubertis and drummer Anthony Foti.

She’ll also be joined by special guest opening act Ray Flanagan, another local rocker making his Nighttown debut. Flanagan is best known for his performances with his band, the Authorities, with whom he released a CD, A Hard Shell to Break, earlier this year. He’ll undoubtedly ratchet down the volume for this show, giving the tunes, with their blues-rock, classic rock and even metal influences a different slant. Tickets are $10.
