There are so many neighborhoods vying for holiday shoppers with special events that it’s getting hard to keep. But we don’t want to miss up-and-coming Gordon Square at W. 65th and Detroit.
To draw people down to check out its assortment of small businesses, it’s hosting Holidays in Gordon Square. Start your day early with a special $1 screening of A Christmas Story at the Capitol Theatre. Then browse the winter market inside the Gordon Square Arcade, take a horse-drawn carriage rides and listen to live music. They’re also suggesting that people head down a few blocks west to check out the Cleveland Bazaar at the 78th Street Studios.
You’ll definitely want to make time to have lunch or dinner, given the area’s plethora of outstanding restaurants. If you’re bringing kids, Sweet Moses ice cream parlor is a must-stop — especially since Mr. Jingeling will be there from 1:30-4:30pm. If it’s just adults, there are plenty of places to relax with an after-dinner drink, including the just-opened Banter beer and wine store, which also offers eat-in winter comfort foods like home-made sausage and poutine. Or take in a live show at one of the area’s theaters: Scrooged at the Near West Theatre and Feefer Rising or The Lush Sisters Love Dick’ns: Great Expectations at Cleveland Public Theatre.
Make a full day of it.
