Kent Marks Earth Day With Who's Your Mama Block Party and Parade

Sat 11/18 @ noon-4PM

All month, Standing Rock Cultural Arts in Kent has been celebrating Earth Day month with a series of “Who’s Your Mama?” special events: a film festival, an art show, and now an Earth Day block party at downtown Kent’s Hometown Bank Plaza.

It will be a hive of activities, including  art displays, eco-friendly vendors, and information tables from environmental groups such as the Kent Environmental Council, the City of Kent Stormwater Department, and the Portage Soil and Water Conservation district, who will have native tree saplings. There’ll be photo area where people dressed like animals or eco-heroes (something you’re encouraged to do) can have their picture taken and be eligible for the costume contest with a $100 prize. Music will be provided by Canton’s En-Rich-Ment Drum Line who will lead the parade at 2:30 — join in and flaunt those costumes! There’s also an open African drum jam led by Virginia King at 1:30pm so bring your own drum and take part.

It’s all free and open to all. Get more information and updates here.
