Guitarist/composer/arranger Bob Niederriter grew up in Cleveland steeped in music, starting with piano and detouring into violin but returning to guitar as his core instrument. While he studied art in school at Kent State University (he’s also an accomplished painter and glass blower), he continued to embrace music influenced by such jazz guitar greats as Charlie Christian, Wes Montgomery, Barney Kessel and Jim Hall as well as musicians like Charlie Parker and Thelonius Monk. He earned his degree at the New School for Social Research in New York before returning to Cleveland where he performs regularly with veteran drummer Greg Bandy.
When he plays at BluJazz Akron, though, he’ll be doing something a little different, bringing a trio that also features bassist Roger Hines and B3 Hammond organ player Linda Dachtyl.
