MANSFIELD: The Smoking Guns

The Smoking Guns

By Mansfield Frazier

With the release of the video showing George Zimmerman in police custody following the killing of Trayvon Martin without so much as a visible bruise (let alone the bloody nose and gash to the back of his head others have claimed he suffered), coupled with the news a court-certified expert in forensic voice identification stated the voice heard crying for help is not that of the shooter (as his father has claimed), and it looks pretty much like this self-styled vigilante can cancel Christmas… he won’t be spending it at home if justice is done. Barring a miracle, jury fraud, or some kind of divine intervention, the only thing that’s going to beat Zimmerman to the penitentiary will be the headlights on the bus. As said in regards to the Rodney King case: Thank God for video cameras.

After being on the receiving end of more than one federally-inspired criminal investigation in my day, two things are dead certain: The feds are going to take their own sweet time (they always do)… and they’re not going to miss much (they never do). Which should make a lot of people down in Sanford (those police and civilians who came up with what now appear to be bald-faced lies and perhaps doctored documents to corroborate Zimmerman’s version of events) as nervous as a bunch of whores in a Florida backwoods, snake-handling, Pentecostal church.

Trust this: At the federal level, the wheels of justice grind very slowly — but exceedingly fine. When the FBI gets through with a person’s ass there’s nothing left but raw hamburger, or a pile of small-particle dust. A goodly number of people involved in the case might by now be asking, “What the hell was I thinking?” And if they aren’t asking yet, no doubt they will be before this is over. They might not know it, but they’re about to go through a life-changing experience… all for the sake of attempting to protect white privilege.

One thing the feds will no doubt be looking at is the phone records of Robert Zimmerman (the shooter’s father) on the night in question and the days after. Did the elder Zimmerman, who is a retired magistrate, call the prosecutor and ask him to not charge his son? Is that why the detective on the scene was overruled… and George Zimmerman was released without charges? Something stinks to high heaven.

What’s going on now is akin to the ripple effect when a stone is dropped in a pond. While Zimmerman is at the center, the feds are still watching to see how far the ripple will spread, how many other people were involved in what now seems like an obvious lie. And the reason is simple: Why just bust one person (police officer or citizen) for lying or making out a false police report when you can bust two, three, or maybe a half-dozen? And the potential big one is the “C” word… and I don’t mean cancer, but legally it can be just as deadly… I’m talking about “conspiracy.”

What started out as a seemingly good idea by some supposedly concerned citizens to protect “one of their own” and defend him from those people just might turn into serious federal charges for conspiring to deny Trayvon his civil rights — by virtue of cooking up one whopper of a tall tale after the other. It’s a good guess this is the first rodeo for most of these folks, and they have no idea… no frame of reference… to assess and comprehend just how bumpy this ride is about to get.

But Robert Zimmerman just might know… that’s why he’s rolling the dice and making one wild accusation after the other in hopes of tainting the potential jury pool. He’s hopeful that some of his lies will stick in their minds as “reasonable doubt” when the case goes to trial. And the scary thing is, down in Florida — with the jury pool they’ll be selecting from — he just might be right.

But someone might come to their senses and realize they don’t want to be part and party to a cover up. As you read this one of the alleged fabricators — the one with the smartest lawyer — is perhaps already banging on the door of the federal prosecutor, preparing to sing like Elvis doing his soulful rendition of Jail House Rock. All it takes is one liar to break ranks and come clean and the rest of them are dead meat… stick a fork in them, they’re done.

To the feds ain’t none of this personal… this is just how careers and reputations are made in law enforcement — by busting and convicting people… and the higher profile the case the better. This is the kind of case someone can retire and write a book about… maybe even consult on the movie version.

Here’s a hint to those other folks who might have made official — and perhaps bogus — statements in regards to witnessing Trayvon Martin pummeling Zimmerman or other facts of the case: If I were you I’d lawyer-up… and I’d be doing it with the quickness.

This case is no longer simply about the guilt or innocence of George Zimmerman… it’s about the NRA protecting the insane right of any yahoo, racist or bigot anywhere in America to own, carry and use a gun to kill someone… and then make a bogus claim of self-defense under “stand your ground.”

Everyone involved in the case had better get ready for their 15 minutes of fame… the whole world is going to be watching.

The Jinx Will Continue

I was there on Opening Day at Jacobs Field in 1996 when Native Americans gathered from all across the country in an attempt to convince the owners of the Indians to get rid of the grinning, racist Chief Wahoo. They were simply asking for Cleveland to quit disrespecting an entire nation of people, but, alas, it just wasn’t to be — the racism was (and is) evidently too deeply ingrained. Oh, and there’s the money they make off the cartoonist character.

So the team will pay the price yet again this year as the season goes down in flames because of the curse placed on Progressive Field when it first opened. You don’t believe in curses or jinxes? No matter — you are not on the team’s roster either. You won’t be the one out there dropping fly balls.

Baseball players are among the most superstitious of all professional athletes… which is saying a lot since, as a group, players of pro sports are among the most superstitious people on the planet. And articles like this one have a sneaky way of getting inside their heads — causing wild pitches, base running errors and other miscues at critical junctures. It’s really weird how it works… but it does. Just watch as the season progresses.

But the height of paternalistic racism is when the ball club’s spokesman Bob DiBiasio states the matter of whether the image is offensive is an “individual perception issue.” Hey Bob, your “perception” of what’s offensive to another race of people really doesn’t matter. The only legitimate voices in this discussion belong to Native Americans… and they say Chief Wahoo offends them. End of story.

  1. Mansfield, it seems you must have written this a bit ago. There are now pictures of the back of Zimmermans head with wounds on it. I won’t be surprised if you are right but it really seems you ought to wait for all the evidence to come out. It is the fair thing to do. You do want ‘fair’ don’t you?

  2. Thomas Frazier

Cindy, two words for you to contemplate; conspiracy and photoshop.

  3. Sure it could be Thomas. Like I said I won’t be surprised BUT I will wait until the evidence is available.

  4. […] of guilt or non-guilt.  But I suppose Frazier is pretending that he’s the jury.  And he’s already determined what happened between Martin and Zimmerman.  He’s drunk the Kool Aid and believes that Zimmerman had no injuries to the back of his […]
