Cleveland’s Derf Named One of America’s Next Top Webcomics
Cleveland comix creator Derf, known for his regular strip, “The City,” syndicated in alternative weeklies nationwide, has just been named “One of America’s Top Webcomics,” along with three other cartoonists, citing his “politically charged yet hysterical strips.”
Upon hearing the news, Derf, who has won over 50 awards for his work, including the Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Award, responded, “I didn’t know I was a webcomic.”
Currently hard at work on a major book of his comics, Derf is known among other works for his comic book, “My Friend Dahmer,” about his childhood friendship at Revere High School in Richfield, Ohio, with Jeffrey Dahmer, who became one of America’s most notorious serial killers.
