Walkabout Tremont’s “Winter Warmer” Offers Art, Food and Drink Refuges from the Cold

Work by Jennifer Gleason

Fri 1/11 @ 5-10PM

We know, we know — January isn’t the optimal month for an art walk. But if you’ve had enough of sitting in the house, you’ll find plenty to do at the monthly Walkabout Tremont, dubbed “Winter Warmer” for January, even if you find yourself camping out at one of the local restaurants, bars, galleries or retail establishments instead of doing a lot of walking.

There are always food and drink specials in the bars and cafes, and always some thing to see at galleries like Doubting Thomas and the Hartshorn Gallery. And we’re intrigued to read about the show at the Treehouse, Story Untold, featuring Jennifer Gleason’s surrealism-infused works influenced by Alexander McQueen, Edgar Allan Poe, Salvador Dali & Gustave Moreau, with imagery of angels, warriors, floating matchstick islands, flying umbrellas, natural disasters and more. She describes them as “bearing a deeply metaphorical message pertaining to human behavioral patterns, the examination of the psyche & personal growth through adversity for the purpose of healing heart & soul.”

There are plenty more interesting things like that to discover around the neighborhood. Stop by.
