Search for Playful Critters at Summit Metro Parks' Otter Open House

Sun 8/10 @ 10AM-1PM

The return of river otters to northeast Ohio is one of conservation’s great success stories. These adorable little aquatic mammals can now be spotted around the region at places such as Cuyahoga Valley National Park, the Geauga Park district, along the shores of Lake Erie and even downtown Cuyahoga Falls.

Summit Metro Parks has also become home to otters, and this Sunday, it’s celebrating them with an “Otter Open House” at its Liberty Metro Park Pond Brook Conservation Area in Twinsburg.

There visitors can learn about their lives, their habits and how to spot them via interactive displays, games and crafts. Naturalists will be leading short walks along Buttonbush Trail to look for otters, but don’t be too disappointed if you don’t catch sight of one: the best times to see them are dawn and dusk, so you may want to return then.

The event is free. Call 330-865-8065 for more information.
