Sat 12/10 @ 11AM-6PM
The lively Coventry Village commercial strip in Cleveland Heights is dominated by small, locally owned businesses. And a great time to patronize them and enjoy some holiday cheer is during the Coventry Village Holiday Festival Saturday December 10, when “shopping local” will be made easy.
You can start at the Jingle Bell Holiday Shop at Grog Shop and B-Side Lounge from 11am-4pm, which will be packed with more than 50 local artisans, crafters and creators of all types, with plenty of both small and extravagant gift ideas. And Coventry’s beloved Steve Presser of its former toy store Big Fun will be making his return to the area, with a pile of retro and collectible items and other fun things.
Santa, the Grinch and Olaf will be strolling the street ready to take photos with you before you pop into one of the shops. At Made Cleveland, which offers handmade items from Cleveland-area makers all year round, you can not only shop, but also do some cookie decorating or create a make-and-tale stocking. There’ll also by a holiday papermaking workshop at Mindful Mix if you’re into crafting. You can enjoy live music by the Abstract Sounds and a story hour with local writer Tricia Springstubb at the Coventry Library from 2-3pm.
And look out — at 5pm, here comes the Lantern Parade, featuring giant puppets, dancers and people brandishing homemade lanterns, making its way down the street from the Coventry PEACE Campus. (You can head over there earlier and join a workshop to make your own lantern.)
