Sat 11/1 @ 7-11PM
With the weather getting cooler, you might need some help getting warm. And there’s no better wat to do so than working up a sweat at the monthly Bainbridge Swing Dance, where you can learn some new steps, meet some new people and dance to some live music.
Things kick off at 7pm with an hour-long lesson to get beginners up to speed and give more experienced dancers the chance to brush up. Then from 8-10pm the band takes the stage, and the dancers take the floor. This month’s band is Lorain-based Rachel Brown and the Beatnik Playboys featuring some of the area’s most skillful veteran musicians playing a vibrant blend of American roots music, with country, jazz, blues and pop influences. When Brown hits the keyboards and starts belting out tunes, things will get really hot.
Come with your partner, your family or by yourself — everyone changes partners all night, so you’ll never be alone. If you’re not tired by the time the band packs up, stick around for a new feature called Electro Swing where you can dance to recorded dance music that mixes swing, jazz, house and hip hop with effects such as black lights, strobes and lasers.
The dance takes place at the Family Life Center in Chagrin Falls. Go here for more information.
