Once again, for the 58th (!) year, Akron’s Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens is hosting its Ohio Mart, one of its main fundraisers for the once-private estate built by Goodyear founder F.A. Seiberling in 1915 and donated after his death in 1955 to become a a nonprofit museum open to the public to enjoy the buildings and grounds on the 70-acre estate.
This annual event showcases nearly 150 artisans and makers from across the state offering jewelry, textiles, garden décor, sculpture, handmade furniture, vintage goods and collectibles, and much more. It’s a great chance to do some holiday shopping while enjoying peak autumn weather. A children’s corner will offer free make-and-take crafts for kids bored by their parents’ shopping; the Playgarden and Homes of Nature play areas will also provide some distraction for them.
In addition, food vendors will be offering Greek, Thai, Mexican, BBQ and American food, as well as gingerbread and sweets in the bakery tent. Admission also includes self-guided tours of the Manor House where there will be a Stitchery Showcase of needlework, beaded work and quilts.
