This year is the 25th anniversary of the DEVOtional gatherings, honoring Akron’s distinctive and influential band Devo. Original held in Akron, they’ve been at the Beachland Ballroom for years now and that’s where it’ll be again this year.

As usually, they ease into the weekend on Friday with a gathering held at the Beachland Ballroom, moved from the smaller room as the event has attracted more and more attendees. Then it starts early on Saturday with a full day devoted to music — DJs and live bands (not usually Devo tribute bands but bands with a sort of Devo mentality) — vendors, film and video and usually special guests aand speakers who have some sort of relationship with the band.
They share, “We are so happy to welcome back our pal, David Kendrick (of Gleaming Spires, Devo & more) as a special guest! He is a longtime regular at our event and couldn’t be with us the last 2 years because of tour commitments with the band, Xiu Xiu. He’s a swell guy and you should meet him!” They also confirmed several bands, including Akron’s Massive Hotdog Recall featuring Al Mothersbaugh, Pittsburgh’s Sneaky Heat Missles, Baltimore’s Devoids, Cleveland’s Pill Time, L.A.’s Psycho Jimmy Experiment, Boojilicious (described as “devolved belly dance”), Cleveland’s PAL, ButterTuna with Butter Knives and ZoonaToona, and Dave Kendrick’s Quintophernia.
