Could there be more of a “Hello, it’s summer!” event than the Berea National Rib Cook-Off & Beer Fest?
And if ribs and beer mean summer to you, you’ll probably be at the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds for the four-day blast of smoke, noise and crowds taking place for the 27th year. It’s hosted by the Berea City Club to raise money for civic projects. Ten teams of rib cooks will compete for prizes — and customers.
And if you don’t eat ribs, there’ll be plenty of other fair-style food to enjoy, while you take in a dizzying array of activities. For the grown-ups, there are cover bands of every variety from soul to 80s, from the Beatles to the Michael Stabley Band. On Saturday there’ll be 40 classic Corvettes to drool over. For the kids there is an activity area featuring a bungee trampoline, a mechanical bull and the requisite inflatable bounce house.
