If for some reason the idea of being a pirate sounds romantic to you — You haven’t been watching those Pirates of the Caribbean films again and crushing on Johnny Depp, have you? — then the place to be this weekend is Put-in-Bay for its annual Pyrate Festival.
Get that costume ready and be there Friday night for the flag-raising ceremony in DeRivera Park in the heart of downtown Put-in-Bay. That evening there’s a Pyrate Pub Crawl because of course there is — it’s Put-in-Bay.
Much of the rest of the weekend is family-friendly though, with the Pyrate Encampment and Marketplace opening in DeRivera Park at 10am, along with the Pyrate Kids’ Zone. The encampment and marketplace, as well as the kids’ activities, continue on Sunday, and the antique car parade (a little off topic there) wends its way through downtown starting at 2.
