The Witcher is a series of fantasy novels written in the 1990s by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski, revolving around the eponymous “monster hunting” characters who go after an assortment of dangerous creatures. They’ve spun off movies, TV shows, comic books and, of course, video games.
They also fueled a Polish folk metal band called Percival, founded in 1999, and named after a character in the series. Its plays traditional Slavic songs, as well as its own material drawing on Viking and Pagan history, played on period instruments. And it wrote music for one of the video role-playing games, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, released in 2015.
Now the group is on tour to celebrate the 10th anniversary of that game, performing the music with visuals taking from the game. It will be in Cleveland with the show at, of all places, Severance Music Center.
