Opus 216 was founded by violinist Ariel Clayton Karas in 2012 to expand the boundaries of classical music and its audience, performing music that blended folk, jazz and world music with classical music and performing in unusual locations such as a corner of the event space at 78th Street Studios on Third Friday or the Ames Family Atrium at the Cleveland Museum of Art.
That latter is where they’ll be playing this coming Friday when they play original music by members of the Cleveland Composers Guild. Karas will conduct her players in compositions by Inna Onofrei, Matthew C. Saunders, Lorenzo Salvagni, Stephen Stanziano, Ryan Charles Ramer, Jeffrey Quick, Jeremy Piper, William F. Rayer and Chris Neiner.
