FreshFest, the early fall festival at Rid-All Farm and Otter Park in the Kinsman neighborhood, always annoys us by being the last major festival to confirm its date for our summer events listings.
This year, though, they went above and beyond: not only do they have their date — Saturday September 13 @1-9pm — but they’ve announced a theme, the full lineup of entertainment, a sign-up for volunteers, vendors and participants in the basketball tournament.
We’re especially excited about this year’s theme: Women in Hip Hop. MC Lyte will be this year’s headliner, in the festival’s tradition of tapping a legacy hip-hop artist for the slot. Other performers include DJ Black Unicorn, Sadhu, Armand Rashad, Nuke Franklin, OG Vern, Esther Fitz, Lillian Ruffin and Hyperius Blake.
The festival always features art, vendors, food, drink, information booths, yoga classes, a large kids playground and roller-skating rink. Look around and you’ll find chef and artist demos, line dancing, mindfulness sessions, chess playing and more.
It’s just minutes off the Opportunity Corridor and it’s free. Follow updates here.
