The Middle Bass Island Music Fest, taking place at Lonz Winery State Park on the aforementioned island, is a chance to enjoy some high-quality Ohio music in a laidback environment, free from the hassles of a crowded music festival. Take the Miller Ferry from Catawba right to the festival entrance. There you’ll find food trucks, adult beverages from Heineman’s Winery and Catawba Island Brewing Company, three tents and a pavilion and a newcomer bar to the island called Prohibition.
And there’s music of course: the high-energy blues rock of Columbus’ Deuce ‘n a Quarter; the honkytonk alt country of the Akron-based Shootouts who have created a national buzz with tours, charting albums and multiple Grand Ole Opry appearances, and eclectic sounds, including rock, jazz and funk from Akron’s Nooch Music. It’s a rain-or-shine event. Tents, remember! Admission is free.
