Lottery League was launched in 2008 as a triennial special event (now biennial) to bring together local musicians, to mix-and-match them to spark new collaborations. This year, it is presenting its seventh season.
On April 11, 175 musicians from all corners of the local music scene were drafted into 44 bands — names drawn from a hopper, musicians only allowed to play with people they’ve never played with before — and they’ve spent the last two months coming up with a name, a musical direction and some songs to fuel at ten-minute set they’ll play at the BIG SHOW MMXXVI, which takes place this Saturday June 27 at the Ingenuity Labs at the Hamilton Collaborative.
With each iteration, the musicians and the music they come up with have gotten more and more diverse and the audience has gotten larger. So there’ll be several stages to keep the music going, with the School of Rock Cleveland West musicians kicking things off at noon, food, bars, and tables and displays from various sponsors. Admission is free; all are welcome.
