Les Delices Celebrates Scottish Poet Robert Burns

Thu 1/15 @ 7:30-8:30PM

Sun 1/18 @ 7:30-8:30PM

Cleveland baroque chamber ensemble has a miniature treat for listeners this weekend. In honor of the birthday this month  (January 25, 1759) of Scotland’s best known poet Robert Burns, it’s put together a program called A Red Red Rose, taking its name from one of his most famous love poems (“My love is like a red red rose that’s newly sprung in June”).

Tenor James Reese is joining the musicians for an evening of ballads and Celtic Caledonian country dances with selections likely to include such well-known Burns lyrics as “Comin’ Thru the Rye” and “Auld Lang Syne.”

They’ll perform at the Hermit Club at the Hofbrauhaus in Playhouse Square on Thursday January 15 and at the Hudson Library on Sunday January 18/ In between they’ll head north for a couple of performances in the Detroit/Ann Arbor area on Friday and Saturday so if you have friends there, alert them!
