Guitarist/composer Dan Bruce is known as a rising star in the local and national jazz scene. Like many talented jazz players he’s collaborated with a long list of artists, recording as a sideman on more than 50 albums and releasing four albums as a band leader. After spending a decade in vibrant Chicago jazz scene, he’s become a key part of the northeast Ohio jazz community, showing his versatility by playing big band music as a member of the Cleveland Jazz Orchestra, jazzed-up Italian folk songs with Alla Boara and Astor Piazzolla’s Argentinian tango music with the Oblivion Project.
Now he has a new project of his own, a trio called Ohm! Which is just releasing its debut album called The Architects. The music he and his cohorts, electric bassist Jordan McBride and drummer Gabe Jones, make in this project is described as “a journey through funky pockets and jazz/rock fusion for those who like surprises.” It incorporates a variety of genres to produce a range of moods and musical textures.
They’ll introduce the new music to listeners at a release concert at the BOP STOP. Get tickets here. The new album and other merch will be available at the show, which will also be livestreamed on the BOP STOP’s YouTube channel.
This event will also be livestreamed on BOP STOP’s YouTube Channel at showtime. Accessing the stream is free but donations are encouraged and directly support the band. To donate, select “Donation: Livestream Attendee” (which is a $10 blanket ticket price) as your Ticket Option above.
