Cleveland's Versatile Amethyst Trio Plays Free Concert at Cain Park

Tue 6/30 @ 7PM

In addition to the national touring acts its presents in the Evans Amphitheatre, Cleveland Heights’ Can Park also offers smaller, more intimate free concerts with local artists in the Alma Theater.

This week you can hear the Amethyst String Trio, an ensemble of two violins and cello founded by busy local freelance violinist Mary Beth Ions. All three players are equally busy and versatile, playing with the Cleveland Pops Orchestra, in the pit at Playhouse Square for Broadway shows, backing tours artists such as Rod Stewart, Barry Manilow and Smokey Robinson, performing at weddings and other private special events, and in churches and synagogues. In concert, their wide repertoire includes perform classical, pop and film music.

A great believer in the power of music to heal and inspire, the Amethyst String Trio is dedicated
to the mission of bringing live music up close and personal to those who might not otherwise
experience it. Several trio members are thrilled to be part of MetroHealth’s Arts in Medicine
Department where they enhance patient experience with all genres of music. Several are
devoted teachers, believing that music is an integral part of the learning spectrum as it promotes discipline, teamwork and creativity.
