Long-running Cleveland indie rock band Kiss Me Deadly, fronted by songwriter/vocalist/guitarist Jen Poland, is getting ready for its next chapter, as it released its new full-length recording Ship of Theseus, on vinyl and streaming on digital platforms this weekend.
The band says that the album “asks a dangerous question: if you replace every piece of yourself, are you still the same band?” They say, “This limited edition vinyl draws inspiration from the philosophical paradox of identity and transformation, explores evolution, fracture, and self-reconstruction through driving guitars, groovy bass, haunting harmonies, humor, cinematic textures, and emotionally direct songwriting.”
Poland engineered and mixed the record at Ohio Unviersity where she teaches sound recording. She says that the recording is “a sound that I was able to sculpt from inception to completion at every step of this creation, which is both an exciting and super vulnerable feeling to put yourself out there on every level of your artistry.”
The band also created a video of the single “Biosphere,” written produced, directed and edited by Poland. You can watch it here.
They’ll be celebrating the release with a show at The Brothers Lounge this weekend. Go here for more information.
