Cleveland History Center's History on Tap Party Centers Around Horror Films

Thu 10/23 @ 6-9PM

The Western Reserve Historical Society’s Cleveland History Center presents an edition of its History on Tap evenings that explores a popular topic that’s especially relevant at this time of year: how horror films are made.

It seems like horror is the entry level subject of every aspiring filmmaker, and a quartet of special guests will share what goes into making one that’s believable and scary in “Behind the Screams.” They include Special FX makeup artist Ron George; Monica Plunkett of Cleveland Prop Shop and the film Beneath the Light; special effects expert David Greathouse; and audio storyteller Caroline Breder-Watts of Radio on the Lake Theatre, who will emcee this event.

Visitors are encouraged to come in costume—there will be a costume contest, so the more horrifying the better. There’ll also be prop and costume displays, live demos, interactive crafts including Make Your Own Mask stations, and full museum access which included its new exhibit Hollywood on the Cuyahoga.

Yes, there’ll be food and drink available for purchase, including a themed cocktail “Blood Moon Fizz,” with food provided by Ammon’s Mediterranean Grill. Get tickets here.
