The Cleveland Chamber Choir was founded just over ten years ago to bring professional vocal performances to a variety of northeast Ohio venues, performing music across nine centuries.
It’s currently presenting a program called Madness & Melancholy, comprising baroque music in a variety of styles including mad songs, Italian and French laments, and excerpts from English composer Henry Purcell’s baroque opera Dido and Aeneas. They say that the program “promises to arouse the spirits of even the most lethargic of souls.”
Performers include baritone Dominic Aragon, soprano/violinist Abigail Hakel-Garcia, theorbo player Adrian Murillo, contralto Kira McGirr and harpsichordist Gregory Ristow. They’ll perform at Trinity Cathedral as part of its lunchtime Brownbag Concert series. It’s free and no reservations are required. They’ll perform it again as part of the Cleveland Museum of Art Chamber Music in the Galleries series on Wednesday March 25. That’s also free.
