Cle Punk Rockers Whatever... Return from the ’90s to Release New Album

Sat 5/31 @ 9PM

Cleveland band Whatever … had a loud and prominent presence in the Cleveland music scene of the early-mid 1990s, with its last full-length album Youngsters released in 1997. In 1999, the band members went their separate ways — until late 2022. At that point two of the original members, vocalist/guitarist Ben Wrecked and drummer Matt Fish came back together, adding guitarist Brett Moore and bassist/vocalist Peter Woodward to dip their collective toe back into the scene.

The result is their first full-length release since 1997, titled Into Darker Days, featuring 12 tracks, produced by J. Robbins of Jawbox and Burning Airlines, that show the intensity that their fans loved. “Leaning into the existential unrest of today’s world, WHATEVER… channels decades of frustration into a sound that’s both familiar and freshly ferocious,” says their promotion for the new disc.
The album officially hits the streets May 30 on Dr. Strange Records, on 12” vinyl, CD and digital streaming platforms. To kick things off, the band will be playing a pair of record release shows: One at Columbus; SpaceBar on Friday May 30, and another at the Happy Dog in Cleveland on Saturday May 31@ 9pm.
