Geneva-on-the-Lake is known as Ohio’s own little summer resort tucked away along Lake Erie in the Northeast corner of the state. Once known for its holiday riots and its attraction to bikers, it’s long since lost the riots, although its appeal to bikers (and mostly, to families, in some cases one and the same as the bikers have gotten older) remains. Many businesses support “biker welcome” signs or have special biker parking.
While the season technically ends on Labor Day, GotL extends it one more week with the annual Thunder on the Strip bike rally, now in its 18th year. This event offers four days of rides, bar hops, live music everywhere inside and out (mostly classic rock cover bands), motorcycle stunt performances, vendors, bike repair and detailing businesses. It’s an action-packed long weekend with things to do right up until the closing ceremony at 6pm on Sunday.
It attracts so many bikers that if you haven’t booked your hotel within 50 miles you’re out of luck. Go here for a full schedule of events.
