Ballet Excel Celebrates 50th Anniversary with Production of "Aladdin"

Sat 3/14 @ 2PM & 7PM

Sun 3/15 @ 2PM

Ballet Excel is a pre-professional dance company based in the greater Akron area which has been training aspiring young dancers since 1975. Founded by Nan Klinger it’s now run by her daughter Mia. It’s one of the oldest youth ballet companies in the country, and it regularly performs its largely fairy tale and storybook-based repertory pieces at venues such as the Akron Civic Theatre.

That’s where they’ll be this weekend to perform Aladdin, choreographed by Erich Yetter, with three performances Saturday March 14 and Sunday March 15 at 2pm and a with a special tribute to the company’s 50th anniversary on Saturday @ 7pm.  Guest artists Daniel Ulbricht and Indiana Woodward, principal dancers with the New York City Ballet, will join them, along with some of the choreographers who created their repertoire.  There’ll be a special performance by Ballet Excel alum Dustin True (now dancing in Switzerland) and Ashley Klinger (who dances in Broadway shows) in addition to the performance of Aladdin, bringing former and current dancer together to celebrate the company’s legacy.
