On Saturday April 26, SPACES Gallery brought back its popular Monster Drawing Rally after several dormant years. The event brings together artists and art lovers for an evening of art creating where shifts of more than two dozen artists spent an hour making art, while guests watch and browse. The finished pieces are hang up on the wall, and people can purchase any of them for a flat $100 which goes to support the nonprofit gallery’s programs.
The event also featured a space for kids to create, a raffle and outstanding vegetarian food. The event’s popularity was demonstrated by the crowd that packed the room from the minute the doors opened.
But there was so much art that many pieces were left over, and are still hanging in the main gallery. So SPACES is opening the gallery to visitors this Wednesday and Thursday for a final preview and sale. You’ll find works by some of the area’s best known and most accomplished artists as well as from promising young arts and even talented art students. Stop down and check out the re-kindling of excitement at this long-running artist-focused organization.
