Akron-Based Little Jazz Heritage Orchestra Plays at CVNP's Happy Days Lodge

The Jazz Heritage Orchestra, founded in founded in 1998 as part of the Cleveland State University Black Studies Department, has recently formed at partnership with Akron’s OpenTone Music and moved its base Akron. Its mission is unchanged: under Artistic Director Dennis Bradley Reynolds it protects and promotes the legacy of the legendary African American jazz masters of jazz, with its educational programs and performances.

The Little Jazz Heritage Orchestra is a 12-piece spinoff ensemble of the larger group. It’s niche is focusing on repertoire by important composers and arrangers such as Ernie Wilkins and Marty Paich, written specifically for this style of smaller ensemble. It also performs original compositions and arrangements specifically for this size ensemble written by members of the organization.

The Little Jazz Heritage Orchestra will perform at Cuyahoga Valley National Park’s Happy Days Lodge, as part of their concert series. Doors open at 6:30pm; music starts at 7. It’s general admission seating, and there’s a cash bar. Get tickets here.
