While modern medicine has undeniably benefited us in many ways, eradicating diseases and extending lifespans, traditional herbal medicine has also been proven to have many benefits as well.

Jacob Wolf, who has a doctorate in naturopathic medicine and is board-certified in acupuncture and traditional Chinese herbal medicine. He’s also president of the Ohio Naturopathic Doctors Association. The Western Reserve Herb Society (WRHS) is bringing him to the Cleveland Botanical Garden for a talk about traditional Chinese herbalism, looking a the philosophies behind it, its foundational herbs and formulas, and current research into the safety and effectiveness of herbal therapies. Learn about the work of the WRHS and the garden it maintains at the Cleveland Botanical Garden too (Plan some extra time to tour it; even though it’s early in the season, you’ll be able to see its layout and the beginnings of some plants popping up).

Wolf will speak at 11am, followed by an herbal buffet at noon created by members of the WRHS. It’s free with the $12 admission and no registration is required.
