It’s been a long cold winter as usual in northeast Ohio, and one of the things we’ve been missing most is the Cleveland Flea.
Just in the nick of time, it’s launching its third year of monthly markets. It’ll be back at Tyler Village, where it moved in the middle of last season when it was obvious it had outgrown its location in the parking lot of Sterle’s Country House.
Undoubtedly many old favorites will be cropping up among the 120-plus artists, artisans, craft food vendors and antiques and collectibles dealers — every one from around the region, no mass-market tchotchkes or fair food EVER.
But market founder/organizer Stephanie Sheldon works to keep things fresh so she’s always seeking out new vendors with something different to offer. She’s got over two dozen first-timers already listed. Go here if you want to see who’s returning and what new vendors to expect. There’s even a map so you can orient yourself and decide what to check out first.
And plan to spend a good chunk of time. With so much to see, you’re going to be there much longer than you expected, sampling intriguing new food items sold to you personally by the person who crafted them, rediscovering that beloved long-lost toy from your childhood, oohing and aahing over handmade books and leather goods. Plus Mahall’s 20 Lanes sponsors a stage so there will be music to listen to. It’s outdoors but it happens rain or shine.
It’s free but bring plenty of spending money. Yes, most of the dealers take credit cards.
The Flea takes place on the second Saturday of each month, April through October. Future dates are: 5/9, 6/13, 7/11, 8/8, 9/12 and 10/10.
