Don Dixon & Marti Jones are a couple of northeast Ohio’s under-recognized musical treasures.
Jones, a northeast Ohio native, was in a new wave/pop band from Canton called Color Me Gone, when she met Dixon, a respected producer out of the Carolinas who worked with the likes of R.E.M. Color Me Gone quickly broke up after one EP in 1983, but Jones and Dixon didn’t. They married, settled in Canton, and produced many wonderful pop/rock albums over the years. Dixon released High & Filthy & Borderline last year, and Jones came out with her bossa nova-based You’re Not The Bossa Me earlier this year. With their vast repertoire of memorable pop tunes, the intuitive harmonies and the bantering onstage interplay, their shows are delightful.
And when they perform at the Music Box Supper Club, they’ll be joined by Cleveland music scene mainstay Chris Allen, who just released a new album, Everything Changes But the Rodeo. So it’ll be a full night of great, thoughtful songs and wonderful singing.
Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the door.
